The last of the book designs to come together, literally as I was working the edging on the plane to the photo shoot and because the design wasn’t truly finalized until stitches were on the needles. Fortunately this rectangle is made of 4 components; 2 smaller triangles and 2 larger ones worked separately and joined with an i-cord 3 needle bind off.
One thing that remained constant was the stripe sequence. I think that of all the designs this one speaks to the value of the contrast color. I suppose that should be good, because there are 3 total. 2 used in the body of the shawl 1 row at a time to create a flicker across the garter ridge and the last used only for the joining row and the edging.
I was so intrigued by how the contrast colors changed the conversation that the colors were having that when it was time to lay out the colorways for the swatches I had to see what the effect would be with only changing the contrast colors (it’s the swatch on top). Completely different, no? Perhaps swatching can reveal a little more than gauge.
This is amazing. In the first and second photos the texture and drape of the fabric makes it look woven not knitted. Such beautiful colours. I can't wait to see the rest and to get a copy of th book.

Grace -- I am so thrilled for you! I just bought the book, and luckily Loop (Craig has the Isager) just started a loyalty program. I think that Smolder is #1 on the list. Congratulations!
